Product Overview
Polished granite has been overused in commercial interiors for decades. The unpolished, rough-face variant is rarer and more interesting — the crystalline structure is exposed, matte, and tactile. Real rough-face granite is heavy, requires specialist cutting and fixing, and is rarely available in the consistent color-matched quantities a large commercial project needs.
At 2 to 3mm thin and $9.12/m², Rough Granite is one of the thinnest and most economical products in the natural stone range. Available in 600×1200mm and 1200×2900/3000mm, all regular colors including white grain, grey grain, and golden grain. The thin profile makes it particularly cost-effective for large-area cladding on commercial facades, residential exterior walls, and interior feature walls where the raw granite aesthetic is specified.

Key Features
- Unpolished matte crystalline granite surface — the raw quarry face, not the polished slab
- 2–3mm thin profile — one of the thinnest stone texture products; minimal shipping weight
- $9.12/m² — economical for large-area coverage where natural granite would be prohibitive
- Three color families: white grain, grey grain, golden grain — covering the primary granite quarry palette
- Both 600×1200mm piece and 1200×2900/3000mm board formats for installation flexibility
Why Choose RINSUN Rough Granite?
01. Rough face rather than polished — the surface architects actually want right now
02. Three grain colors match the primary global granite sources
White grain references Carrara-adjacent Italian and Portuguese granite. Grey grain references Scottish and Scandinavian grey granites. Golden grain references Brazilian and Indian yellow granites. The color choice lets the project reference a specific geological origin.
03. 2 to 3mm: thinner than any natural granite can be cut
Real granite cannot be cut below about 10mm without risk of fracture. Our 2 to 3mm profile allows the granite texture to go on surfaces where real granite is physically impossible — thin stud partition walls, ceiling soffits, and column wraps with tight tolerances.
04. Ships at minimal weight — significant cost saving on international projects
05. Consistent color batch to batch — no quarry variation
Real rough-face granite from a quarry varies in speckle density, vein coloring, and background tone between different extraction points. Our controlled pigmentation keeps every panel in every order within Delta-E 2 of the target — no color banding on large facades.
Rough Granite: Product-specific comparison
This comparison is written for the selected flexible stone surface and its closest traditional alternative: quarried stone cladding.
| Point | This flexible stone | quarried stone cladding |
|---|---|---|
| Product | Rough Granite — 600*1200 and 1200*2900/3000, 2-3mm | Heavy quarried stone slab or veneer |
| Weight | Lightweight flexible stone panel | Much heavier stone assembly |
| Installation | Bond to a prepared wall | Specialist fixing or stone-setting system |
| Curves | Can follow suitable gentle curves | Rigid stone needs custom cutting |
| Maintenance | Product-specific cleaning and edge sealing | Stone sealing and joint maintenance |
Where this flexible stone fits
Exterior Building Facades
Commercial buildings, landscape walls, and boundary features where natural stone aesthetics are specified but structural weight limits apply to the substrate.
Residential & Commercial Feature Walls
Interior accent walls, reception areas, and commercial office walls where real stone is the design intent but the floor load or wall structure can't carry it.
Landscape & Garden Walls
Garden boundary walls, planter surrounds, outdoor feature walls, and paving borders where real stone would require specialist installation and periodic sealing.
Renovation Over Existing Surfaces
Bonding directly over existing concrete render or finished surfaces on projects where demolition is not feasible or not in budget.
Best suited to lightweight façade accents, landscape walls, hotel feature walls and stone-look renovations. Available in 600*1200 and 1200*2900/3000 (mm); 2-3mm profile; All regular colors. Confirm the format, adhesive and exposure requirements against the project spec before ordering.
Installation notes for Rough Granite
1. Prepare the substrate
2. Dry-fit the first panels
Check the 600*1200 and 1200*2900/3000 layout around openings, corners and trims before bonding.
3. Apply stone adhesive
Use the specified polymer-modified stone adhesive with a notched trowel. Press the panel firmly and keep the adhesive bed continuous.
4. Seal exposed edges
On outdoor or wet-area work, seal cut edges and panel joints with a compatible flexible weather sealant.
Final adhesive, substrate and sealing decisions should follow the project specification and the supplied technical data sheet.
