Product Overview

Woven Travertine combines two material references in a single surface — the void pattern and mineral character of travertine stone with a surface weave texture pressed into the face. The result is a material that's simultaneously geological and artisanal. It exists in two versions: a panel with actual holes passing through (for feature walls with backlighting or ventilation) and a smooth-face version for standard wall cladding.

6 to 8mm thick — the heaviest panel in the travertine range. Available in 600×1200mm and 1200×3000mm in both WITH HOLES and SMOOTH variants. All regular colors. The WITH HOLES version is used in hospitality reception walls where ambient backlighting is specified, in ventilation screens, and in partition walls where acoustic and visual screening is required without a fully solid surface.

Key Features

  • Two surface variants from one mold: WITH HOLES (through-perforated) and SMOOTH — different functions, same visual identity
  • 6–8mm thickness — the most substantial profile in the travertine product range
  • WITH HOLES version used for backlit feature walls, ventilation screens, and acoustic partitions
  • Woven texture over travertine void pattern — combination of geological and artisanal surface references
  • 600×1200mm piece and 1200×3000mm board — scale the format to installation context

Why Choose RINSUN Woven Travertine?

01. Backlit installations change the surface character entirely

Under ambient backlight, the through-holes read as a point-light pattern against the travertine surface — the effect is close to a stone screen in a traditional Indian haveli or a Moroccan mashrabiya. No other product in the RINSUN range produces this behavior.

02. 6 to 8mm depth — visual mass without stone's actual weight

At 6 to 8mm, Woven Travertine has the visual presence of a thick quarried stone slab. The actual weight is still under 10 kg/m² — far below the 40 to 60 kg/m² of real travertine at equivalent thickness.

03. The weave pattern over travertine voids is not available from any quarry

This combination doesn't exist in nature. A travertine surface with a woven pattern pressed into the face is a design material, not a natural one — which is why it suits contemporary hospitality and high-end residential applications rather than heritage restoration.

04. SMOOTH version installs identically to standard travertine panels

The SMOOTH variant — no through-holes — installs with standard C2TE adhesive over any prepared substrate. No special considerations, no modified technique. The additional thickness simply requires a full adhesive bed.

05. WITH HOLES version requires substrate preparation behind the panel

For the WITH HOLES version on interior feature walls, prepare the substrate face or cavity behind for the intended backlighting or through-ventilation function before panel installation. We supply a technical installation note for this variant on request.

Woven Travertine: Product-specific comparison

This comparison is written for the selected flexible stone surface and its closest traditional alternative: quarried stone cladding.

Point This flexible stone quarried stone cladding
Product Woven Travertine — 600*1200 (WITH HOLES), 1200*3000 (WITH HOLES), 600*1500 (SMOOTH) and 1200*3000(SMOOTH), 6-8mm Heavy quarried stone slab or veneer
Weight Lightweight flexible stone panel Much heavier stone assembly
Installation Bond to a prepared wall Specialist fixing or stone-setting system
Curves Can follow suitable gentle curves Rigid stone needs custom cutting
Maintenance Product-specific cleaning and edge sealing Stone sealing and joint maintenance

Where this flexible stone fits

Hotel Lobbies & Reception Areas

The travertine aesthetic signals luxury without the structural engineering a real stone lobby wall demands. Columns, lift lobbies, and curved reception desks all install in one operation.

High-End Residential — Feature Walls & Bathrooms

Living room feature walls, master bathroom feature walls, and staircase surrounds. Goes up over plaster or existing surfaces; no demolition, no dust.

Commercial Facade Cladding

Exterior retail, restaurant, and office facades where the stone appearance is part of the brand. Weight under 8 kg/m² means no structural facade engineering in most cases.

Columns, Archways & Curved Elements

Any curved structural element where real travertine cannot follow the radius. The panel flexes to the column diameter and adheres with the same product used on the flat sections.

Best suited to hospitality feature walls, retail displays, spa interiors and tactile residential accent walls. Available in 600*1200 (WITH HOLES), 1200*3000 (WITH HOLES), 600*1500 (SMOOTH) and 1200*3000(SMOOTH) (mm); 6-8mm profile; All regular colors. Confirm the format, adhesive and exposure requirements against the project spec before ordering.

Installation notes for Woven Travertine

1. Prepare the substrate

For Woven Travertine, use a sound, dry and clean wall. Remove loose finishes and correct dampness before bonding the 6-8mm flexible stone panel.

2. Plan the surface pattern

Dry-lay the 600*1200 (WITH HOLES), 1200*3000 (WITH HOLES), 600*1500 (SMOOTH) and 1200*3000(SMOOTH) pieces first. Check the repeat, edges and corner cuts before applying adhesive.

3. Support deeper panels

For thick or high-relief panels, use two installers and temporary supports until the adhesive reaches handling strength.

4. Seal exposed edges

On outdoor or wet-area work, seal cut edges and panel joints with a compatible flexible weather sealant.

Final adhesive, substrate and sealing decisions should follow the project specification and the supplied technical data sheet.

Q1
Can I mix WITH HOLES and SMOOTH versions on the same wall?
Yes — the mold geometry is the same, so the woven travertine surface is identical. Using SMOOTH in the center field and WITH HOLES at a specific backlit section is a documented design approach.
Q2
Does the backlight show through strongly or subtly?

Depends on the light source intensity and the panel color. With a warm LED strip behind a pale Beige panel, the effect is subtle and warm. With a brighter source or a darker panel, more contrast.
Q3
What panel spacing is needed between the panel and the backlight source?

Minimum 50mm clearance between the panel back and any LED strip to allow heat dissipation. The installation guide includes a lighting integration detail drawing.
Q4
How do I clean holes that accumulate dust over time?

Compressed air is the fastest method. A soft brush or vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment also works. The holes are typically 8 to 12mm diameter — large enough for a pointed brush to enter.
Q5
Is 6 to 8mm thick too heavy for an adhesive-only installation?

No. At under 10 kg/m², the adhesive bond is within standard C2TE ratings for wall installation. For ceiling applications with the WITH HOLES variant, add mechanical corner fixings as standard safety practice.
